How to turn a podcast into Shorts without uploading it
Import the episode, keep the lines worth posting, reframe the speaker, and burn in captions on your own computer.
A podcast episode is too long to post as-is, and the good line is usually a minute you almost scrolled past. The cloud way is to upload the file and wait for clips. The local way is to cut the file you already have.
Start from the file
Export the episode from your recorder. Clip Nugget imports that file. It does not ask for an RSS link, and it does not need the episode to be public first.
Keep three moments, not thirty
Highlight detection scores the transcript and suggests clips. Keep the ones with a clear opening line. Trim the rest. You are not scrubbing a two-hour timeline by hand, and you are not paying for every minute of the source.
Make it vertical and readable
Face tracking puts the speaker in a 9:16 frame. Captions are burned in from a local transcript, because most Shorts are watched muted. If you only need to see one frame before you commit, the 9:16 crop tool does that in the browser and does not upload the still.
Where the cloud tools fit
If you want a team workspace or a posting calendar, that is a different product. The Opus Clip comparison and the Klap comparison say which job those apps are built for.
