How to reframe a widescreen video to 9:16
A center crop loses the speaker. Face tracking follows them. A free still tool only places one frame.
A 16:9 recording becomes a Short by throwing away most of the frame. The mistake is a crop that stays in the center while the person leans out of it.
One frame, then the whole shot
The 9:16 crop tool lets you place a vertical window on a still. Use it to see the composition. It does not follow motion, and it does not upload the image.
Tracking is the actual edit
Auto-reframe in Clip Nugget follows the face through the clip and exports 9:16. It is for people talking. It will not track a product shot or a game.
Check the edges
Usernames and captions cover the top and bottom of a Short. The safe zone checker draws those bands on a still so the line you care about is not sitting under a button.
